About the Artist

Becky was born in Cheshire in 1987, after graduating with a degree in Creative Arts she moved to West Wales in 2010. Working with an outdoor easel and pochade box all of Becky's work is now produced 'plein air'- in the open air. Becky loves the challenge and the excitement of working direct from life and the freshness and spontaneity it brings to her work. She is drawn to capturing both wildlife behaviour and the atmospheric landscape under changing light and weather conditions.

In 2014 and 2015 Becky carried out two separate three month artist residencies at RSPB Ynys Hir reserve. The reserve is situated along side the Dyfi estuary at the foothills of Snowdonia National Park and is one of her favourite places to paint. In 2015 Becky painted a large mural for Ynys Hir, which is hung in the RSPB visitor centre entrance.

In 2015 Becky won the John Busby Seabird Drawing Bursary which enabled her to attend the Seabird drawing week led by artists Darren Woodhead, John Threlfall, Kitti Jones and Greg Poole. The course is based in East Lothian with trips to local wildlife hotspots- St Abb's, Fidra Island and Bass Rock.

Becky held a solo exhibition at Moma Gallery in 2016- 'Estuary to Ocean, Painting the Edge'. She exhibited at NEWA (National Exhibition of Wildlife Art) in 2016. Becky has exhibited at the SWLA annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries London for the last three years. In 2017 Becky was invited by the Bardsey Island Trust to carry out an artist residency on the Island which can be read about here in her blog.

Becky's work is currently available online and in the following galleries: Galeri Betws Y Coed, Oriel Aberaeron and Plas Glyn Y Weddw.

Upcoming solo exhibitions are at RSPB Ynys Hir in April/ May 2018,  Oriel Y Parc, Pembrokeshire in August/ September 2018 and Ynys Mon Isle of Anglesey 4th May- 16TH June 2019.
